Keys to Success: Travel Industry Events
One of the key ways to be a successful travel advisor is to have a personal network of travel partners around the globe. You want to know that your client is not only in good hands halfway around the world but also treated like a VIP. But how can you meet with key contacts from properties, cruises, and DMCs from multiple continents while working from home? The answer is simple: travel industry events!
Brownell Independent Advisors have several unique opportunities to attend travel events around the world: Virtuoso Week, ILTM, and PURE Life Experiences. These events bring advisors together with travel suppliers for networking and professional development.
Virtuoso Travel Week
All of our Advisors have the opportunity to head to Las Vegas for Virtuoso Travel Week. In 2015, nearly 5,000 travel professionals from 90 countries came together at the Bellagio Resort & Casino. There were over 450,00 one-on-one meetings! During the day advisors meet hundreds of travel partners during 4-minute meetings.
“Virtuoso Week is a must-attend event on my calendar every year. Living in Cincinnati, I see a few of our preferred suppliers (hoteliers, tour operators, etc) as they come through Ohio, but I do not see all of the vendors that regularly come to the Birmingham HQ. During Travel Week, I can strengthen my relationships with vendors, and make sure my clients receive the utmost attention throughout the rest of the year.” –Brownell Independent Advisor Louisa Gehring

But any Virtuoso travel advisor gets to do that! Brownell’s deep relationships around the world mean that you, a Brownell Independent Advisor, get exclusive invitations lunches, dinners, and cocktail parties hosted by our partners. You could be having lunch with Ritz-Carlton, dinner with the Peninsula, and enjoying cocktails and cookies with the Dorchester Collection!
“Brownell has a terrific Travel Week “M.O.”: if you receive an invite to an event that you cannot make, rather than simply saying no to the host, you ask if you can pass on the invite to a colleague who may have that time slot open, to allow our agency as a whole to network. As a result, even though I’ve only been in the industry 3 years, each year I’ve had the opportunity to attend events that otherwise I may not have been invited to, filled with industry movers and shakers that have allowed my contacts to soar!” – Brownell Independent Advisor Louisa Gehring
ILTM
The International Luxury Travel Market, or ILTM, bring together travel advisors with luxury travel experience providers from 95 countries. A smaller travel event, ILTM has three core events in the Asia Pacific and Americas regions and Cannes, France. There are also two specialist events in Japan and Africa. Brownell is offered several invitations to each these exclusive events.
“There was not one appointment I went to where the person I was meeting with didn’t say something along the lines of ‘wow, you’re with Brownell – such an amazing organization.’ The industry’s impression of us [Brownell] is universally and overwhelmingly positive. I was so proud to have Brownell on my name tag!” – Brownell Independent Advisor Katherine Gould
PURE Life Experiences

Caroline Wallace and Sam McClure at PURE Life Experiences
PURE Life Experiences is an intimate event that takes place in Marrakech, Morocco. Advisors meet with only 42 experiential travel suppliers for 20-minute meetings. This setting allows advisors to not only get to know products but create strong relationships with these partners. Brownell gets several invitations to this event.
“For advisors with high-end, adventurous clients looking for experiential trips off the beaten track, PURE is definitely the place to go. Just imagine it: the industry’s most-interesting vendors all gathered in one spot – exotic Marrakech – at one time. It’s global, it’s exhilarating, it’s the one invitation you don’t want to decline.” –Brownell Independent Advisor Caroline Wallace
