How did you find Brownell?
Brownell’s positive reputation definitely preceded itself! Between the Brownell advisors I met at various conferences and the glowing recommendation by several trusted suppliers, I knew Brownell was a special organization.
Why did you choose Brownell as your host agency?
When I was changing agencies, I looked briefly at several other agencies, but to be honest, Brownell was my only real choice. My primary reason was the entire hosting program and how well organized it is, along with all the back up support that hosting provides. Little did I know that I would get so many more amazing benefits by joining Brownell!
What aspect of Brownell is most exciting?
I absolute LOVE my Brownell colleagues – my fellow IC’s, Hosting support, the inside team and the leadership team! There are many, many reasons why I think Brownell is the best agency in the industry, but the primary reason is the people.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to join the travel industry?
It is not as easy as it looks – we work very, very hard at what we do! Make sure you are passionate about the work and not just the travel perks.
Why is working in the travel industry a rewarding/enjoyable career?
What could be better than planning trips that create lifelong, meaningful memories? I find it so rewarding to help our clients plan their vacation time and experience new places and cultures.
7 QUESTIONS WITH SANDY…
What was the best meal you’ve ever had while traveling?
This is tough because I have so many! My favorite breakfast is at the Plaza Athenee in Paris, via room service. My favorite lunch is a Margherita pizza and an Aperol Spritz at the Orangerie at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento. And last, but certainly not least, my favorite dinner is at Al Moro in Rome – the Spaghetti al Moro (their version of carbonara) is amazing.
What popular destination lives up to the hype?
Definitely Italy! I could go every year and always enjoy it, particularly Rome, Lake Como and Capri. Yes, it is the #1 destination in the world, but for good reason. It offers the exquisite food, rich culture, and a variety of experiences and activities.
What is your favorite destination?
Other than Italy, I would say Paris. If you are going to Europe for the first time or the 30th, Paris is always a good idea.
What is the best travel advice you’ve ever received?
Pack light! Although anyone who has traveled with me knows I don’t follow this advice very well!
What is your travel motto?
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.” – Mark Twain
What has been the most inspirational destination you’ve visited?
I am inspired by destinations with a deep sense of history and culture, no matter the location.
What is your dream trip?
An African safari – it is at the very top of my Wanderlist and I hope to cross it off in 2020.
